Drug Impairment Educators is able to provide services to a wide variety of professions. School districts, military branches, prevention professionals, mental health professionals, emergency medical services, social services, manufacturing businesses, and corporations both large and small can all benefit from the drug & alcohol impairment training. Services vary and can be provided in 4, 6, 8, or 16 hour blocks of instruction.
-School districts can improve their ability to identify students who may be under the influence of drugs using the DITEP curriculum, Drug Impairment Training for the Educational Professional. The student can then be referred to the appropriate services so they can return to school and obtain their education. Students can also be taught the dangers of drugs and alcohol by an outsider (the cop) who deals with drugs and alcohol everyday. This can be done through assemblies, speaking to students in the classroom, in health or driver’s education classes, or attendance at safety fairs. Parental groups such as PTA’s can also benefit.
-Social workers will be able to improve their drug knowledge and be better prepared to handle their case loads. They will have a better understanding of drug influence behavior which will make them safer when performing their in-home visits.
-Fire Departments and hospital staff will be able to quickly identify individuals who are impaired by drugs and take appropriate actions to keep themselves safer. It will also help them improve their initial assessment of patients by helping them determine if the behavior they are witnessing is a mental health or drug related issue.
-Prevention professionals will be able better identify individuals who may come to their appointments under the influence. Treatment can then be modified to help increase the individual's chances of recovering from their addiction.
-Supervisors and managers of manufacturing businesses and other corporations will be better able to identify the employee who may be under the influence of a drug. This will help provide a safer workplace and increase the employee’s chances of successfully overcoming their drug addiction.
-Military supervisors and command staff will be better able to identify military personnel and other “on-post” visitors who may be under the influence of drugs. Military police can be trained to the NHTSA standards of “Standardized Field Sobriety Testing” and “Drugs that Impair Driving” to help improve DUI detection and enforcement.
